At Welsh Coast & Country Holidays, we have been renting self catering holiday cottages since 1990 and so have a fund of knowledge that we would like to share with you.

The information on this web site is not designed to be a "hard sell" for our holiday cottages, but is a genuine attempt help you make an informed decision. If you subsequently seek to book a holiday cottage through us, we would be delighted, but that is not the main purpose of this web site.

High Standards

Stone Cottage at Trefin - Sleeps 4 - Ref:855 If we said that the vast majority of our customers are satisfied with their choice of holiday cottage, your response would probably be to evoke disbelief. What if we were to say that it is true, not just for us, but for the whole industry?

Why? Well for a start, the industry is regulated by the four National Tourist Boards and all cottages are inspected bi-annually. As a responsible company, we inspect our cottages the year that the "Visit Wales" inspection team does not, to ensure that standards are maintained. Many of our competitors do the same.


Grading Standards for Self Catering Cottages

In all areas of the UK, the grading schemes for holiday cottages have now been harmonised, so wherever you go in the country, you are sure of uniform standards. The grading scheme is as follows:

So is it all about standards? Obviously not. A self catering cottage may meet all the quality standards but still be unsuitable for you. This is where this guide comes in.
